My First Blog
Hello, everyone! This is the first time I have created a blog! I am a high school teacher of American Sign Language (ASL). I have been teaching now for eight years. Before that, I was an educational interpreter for deaf students for fourteen years. I am working on my Master's degree in Integrating Technology into the Classroom from Walden University. As overwhelming as I sometimes feel, I am excited about this program.

Wow! If you don't mind me asking, in which state do you work? Do you visit several different public schools working only with special needs students or do you teach ASL to non-hearing impaired students? I have heard of the first scenario, but not the second. I would think that you would be able to do tons of great things with technology with your students. I am overwhelmed as well, but I know we will make it through. :)
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteI work in New York State. I work with students in grades 9-12. Most of my students are hearing, although, this year I do have a hard-of-hearing student in my classroom. For the past three years, I teach from one school. But, I do have one distance learning class that I teach, so as of right now, I am teaching students in two other schools. Before I was hired at my present school, I taught all my classes through distance learning. I was teaching students in five different counties, so, I didn't make too many school visits!
